We NEED wilderness
Do you agree that we NEED wilderness? I'm going to give you a link in the External Links section which will take you to a website - the content of which you can read and make your own mind up on - but I regularly visit it, sign the petitions to save wild places, and learn a lot in the process. The link has the title 'Wilderness Organisation', please visit! It will take you to the home page where you will find loads of links to various pages on the site... you may find the 'Take Action' section at the bottom of the page on the right-hand side of particular interest and use. There are, and have been, many and varying campaigns from saving animals, both sea and land animals, to saving areas of outstanding natural beauty... and stopping corporate gain from ruining an area just to save a little money by taking the easiest route, rather than the one which will cause the least damage and disruption. It is also possible to sign up for an email service - a cross between a newsletter and an alert - at the website. I find it all of interest, hope it will be of interest to some readers too! The following is a short quote from the current email... "Utah's canyon country is legendary, and some of the most cherished canyons are Nine Mile, Desolation and Jack Canyon, all part of the West Tavaputs Plateau where the BLM plans to drill more than 800 gas wells. This ill-considered plan would put in harm's way sensitive wilderness areas and one of the largest rock art sites in the world. This area needs protection, not more drilling. Please take a moment to tell the Bureau of Land Management to stop this plan. Click below to take action by the deadline, May 1." Obviously this is time sensitive material, but there is plenty more of interest on the website - they fight an ongoing battle against corporate greed, and insensitivity, both corporate and personal.
