Food Processors

Thoughts on buying a Food Processor from Best UK electrical appliances website, and the Food Processor v the Food Mixer in terms of one or the other if you have limited worktop space.

The portion in quotes is from the webpage...

"A food processor will be a good buy... if you do a lot of cooking, need lots of vegetables chopped, breadcrumbs made, make mayonnaise and generally have loads of uses for one. Remember, many of the better ones come complete with citrus press, juicer, sometimes even a blender.

Two thoughts... will you have sufficient worktop room to keep it out and ready for use? Would a blender do all the jobs which you are considering a food processor for? Or maybe you need both, as blenders are superior when it comes to making a consistently smooth soup.

I have always considered a food processor to be of much more use in the kitchen than a big food mixer... a hand mixer is so much more versatile.

I think the next logical question is how much do you want to spend on it?

There are vast ranges of prices, standards, reliability and ruggedness to consider within this category... and it is difficult to weigh one thing against the other. How much use your machine will be put to will affect which model you choose.

I have read reviews where people have had two or three different cheap models break down on them in a short period of time... then they have bought one of the expensive models, with a long guarantee period and are truly delighted with it. But also bear in mind... it will not last forever... one of mine gave up because the connection and rubber round it perished [of course, they are sealed units]... other than that it had been reliable for years."
